The "Ski for Gold" Charity Race was again the perfect intro for the eve of the legendary night race.

76 enthusiastic celebrities, current and former skiers as well as numerous top athletes and personalities from the business community participated in the Giant Slalom (GS) race.

The race started on the World Cup ladies slalom course and finished at the bottom of the grand Planai Stadium.

Heather, bib number 1, was the first of the invited 76 competitors to race down the GS course.

Heather mastered the challenging conditions with ease, despite skiing with 19 stitches in her right knee and a cast on her left arm for a broken scaphoid, acquired from a previous snow mobile accident.  Heather safely arrived at the bottom of the course into the world famous Schladming Planai Auditorium finishing area, much to the excitement of the cheering crowds.

Other prominent participants who joined Heather were:

Hans Knauss, Thomas Sykora, Leonhard Stock, David Zwilling, Hans Enn, Brigitte Kliment Obermoser, Claudia and Manuela Riegler, Christian Hoffmann, Harald Winkler, Clemens Trimmel, Andreas Hagara, Daniela Schuster, Toni Polster, Michael Konsel, Andy Lee Lang and Vera Russwurm.

Anton Schutti, Managing Director of the Austrian Sports Aid said:

"The important thing is that Olympic champions, world champions and celebrities from politics, business, culture and sports donated their time to a good cause and the net proceeds of €22,000 go to charity.

That night Schladming hosted a glittering gala dinner and show at the Hotel Sport Royer.

Heather attended the gala along with another 500 VIP guests.

The Gala, honoured Bennie Reich and Mario Matt, both world cup alpine ski and Olympic gold medalists from Austria, with a life time achievement award for their outstanding contribution to ski racing.
