VBites 1st Cafe Hove Lagoon opening
Heather discovered veganism in the early 90’s as an alternative therapy to traditional medicine. One of the issues faced was being able to source ingredients and trying to find suitable meatless meats and fish substitutes that she could use in her cooking.
Having searched high and low, Heather purchased a small vegan food company called Redwood in 2009 which was re-branded to VBites to align with her VBites Cafes. The product range was greatly expanded and the foundation was laid for a worldwide vegan food brand.

In keeping with Heather’s mantra of supporting small family businesses, she added the family run ethical, plant-based online shop, ‘The Alternative Stores’ to her portfolio in 2024.
The store serves as a one-stop shop for ethical food and everyday essential shopping, supporting hundreds of local family businesses with incredible and original products operate at scale. V-Omega Algal Oil
Over many years, Heather and her team, including acclaimed scientist, Alec Crowbank, perfected a technique that harvests nutrient-rich (plant-based) algae to create a healthier, marine-friendly product. A unique process uses biomass grown under controlled manufacturing conditions and naturally occurring micro-organisms instead of fish or other animals.
V-Omega3 is a 100% vegan Algal Oil manufactured in the UK from our-own biomass in carefully-controlled manufacturing conditions and contains high levels of EPA and has 420 mg of DHA in every two capsules.
Be At One Vegan Make Up
Together with her friend, business partner, and longtime cosmetics professional, Milena Thacker, Heather has developed an entirely vegan, paraben-free, cruelty-free, high-quality cosmetics range that includes lipsticks, concealer, BB cream (foundation) and eye liners. The product has been lauded by fashion houses such as Chanel for being premium in quality but affordable in price. Made in Italy it’s easy to apply, smells like Papaya and stays put all day long!
